Why can't I request a WhatsApp Business verification code?

Explains the Meta rate-limit error when requesting a WABA verification code and how to resolve it.

If you see the message "Request code failed: Our servers are temporarily unavailable. Please wait 1 hour before trying again." — or if the "Send code" button is disabled and showing a countdown timer — this is a rate-limit imposed by Meta, not a 2Chat error.

Why does this happen?

Meta limits how many verification code requests can be made for a phone number within a short period. When that limit is reached, Meta enforces a 1-hour waiting period before a new code can be requested. The error message may say "servers temporarily unavailable" but this is Meta's standard wording for a rate-limit — there is no outage.

What to do

Option 1 — Wait and retry from 2Chat

The countdown timer in 2Chat shows exactly how long until you can request a new code. Once it reaches zero, click "Send code" again.

Option 2 — Verify directly from WhatsApp Manager

You can complete the verification directly from Meta without waiting:

  1. Select the phone number you want to verify.

  2. Follow Meta's verification steps.

  3. Once verified in Meta, return to 2Chat and continue the setup wizard.
