Unfortunately, email addresses or authentication methods can't be changed, but we have a quick workaround you could use if you need to do this.
Changing passwords
If you signed up to 2Chat using a password, you can set a new one by requesting a password change here.
However, if you signed up using one of our social buttons like Google or Microsoft and you didn't set a password in 2Chat during the creation of your account, you can't add a password to your account as your authentication is delegated to Google or Microsoft.
If you still want to set a password for your account, please follow the instructions under changing authentication method.
Changing emails
Invite the new email to your account and set it as Super-Administrator or Owner.
Log in with the new email and activate it.
Go to the Team section and delete your old email.
Changing authentication method
If you signed up using Google or Microsoft, and now you need to set a password, this is something we can't do unless you recreate the user.
To do that, you have to follow a similar process as changing email addresses, but with a few more steps:
If you have another user in your 2Chat account, ask that user to delete your email from 2Chat and invite you back. With the new invitation you received, set up the authentication method you want (social or password) during the activation process. After this, you should be able to log in to your account with the updated authentication method you used.
If you are the only user on your account, you should create an owner account first and use that account to delete and reinvite the one you want to change. For example:
Say you have an account with the email address [email protected].
You used Google to sign up and log in to 2Chat using [email protected] and you want to switch it to a password login.
Create an auxiliary user first that you will use as the temporary owner of your account. For example: [email protected], or [email protected].
Log in with your new account and delete [email protected], then immediately add it back as an Administrator or Owner.
Go to your email client and find the invitation email, set a password this time, and activate your account.
Return to the Teams section and delete your temporary account owner.
