Messages marked as Not Sent on the Live Chat

Learn why a message that shows up on the Live Chat did not get sent on WhatsApp

Sometimes, WhatsApp can restrict an account without fully banning it, and in these cases, messages are accepted but not delivered to the recipient.

These restrictions are only applied to Linked Devices and not to the primary device where you have WhatsApp installed, and they can last from an hour to a few days.

Only new conversations that you start using any Linked Device, including 2Chat's connections, are restricted. You can still send messages inside existing conversations or to contacts that contacted you in the past.

What are the reasons behind this restriction?

WhatsApp/Meta charges for this type of business-initiated message using their WhatsApp Business API offering, and they are incentivized to limit your account if they consider you should be using their paid tier.

How to fix it?

The impact is limited to starting new conversations, but WhatsApp doesn't offer alternatives other than to wait the amount of time the restriction imposes.

You can still use the main device to start new conversations and continue replying using 2Chat's connection.

Everything else will continue working normally for existing conversations and new messages sent to existing contacts.

API users

2Chat triggers the whatsapp.message.receipt.not-sent event when a message couldn't be sent. You can find out more about this webhook event in our documentation.
