How to enable WhatsApp calls on your WhatsApp Business API channel

Turn on WhatsApp calling so customers can call your WhatsApp Business number, and decide what happens with each call using a call flow (IVR).

2Chat can receive WhatsApp voice calls on your WhatsApp Business API number. Calls arrive in 2Chat, where your team answers them, and you can route them with a call flow (IVR), record them and see the call history.

Available only on numbers connected directly with Meta without the WhatsApp Business app. Coexistence numbers and partner-managed numbers don't support WhatsApp calls: Meta requires the number to be only on the Cloud API.

Turn calls on

You can do it in two places:

At the end of the setup wizard. In the Done stage, the WhatsApp incoming calls card has a Turn on button.

From the channel. Go to Channels, open your WhatsApp Business API channel, go to the Calls tab and click Enable WhatsApp Calling, then confirm. 2Chat connects to Meta and turns calling on for the number; it can take up to a minute.

If you see "Connect your Meta account to enable WhatsApp Calls", 2Chat no longer has access to the number in Meta: click Reconnect with Meta and try again.

Decide what happens when someone calls

Once calls are on, the wizard card changes to Set up call flow, which takes you to the Calls tab. There, under Call flow configuration, click Create new call flow to open the flow builder: you can play a greeting, add a phone menu, ring your team or forward the call to another number. Until you create one, the tab shows "This number has no call flow configured".

Turn calls off

In the Calls tab, click Disable Calling and confirm: calls will no longer be available on this WhatsApp number. To remove only the call flow, click Disconnect Flow.
