The Setup Wizard guides you through configuring your WhatsApp Business API channel in 2Chat. It launches automatically when a new channel is added. If a channel still needs it, you will see a Configuration required button in the Status column of the channel list — click it, or open the channel and click Start configuration.
The steps
Verify phone number — if the number is not verified yet, WhatsApp sends a 6-digit code by SMS or call. Enter it to continue.
Register with Cloud API — 2Chat checks the number's registration with WhatsApp and registers it automatically: "Checking the number's registration with WhatsApp…". Most connection issues show up in this step — see the statuses below.
Activate your channel — configures everything the channel needs to receive messages and delivery notifications. It runs automatically; wait for the confirmation.
Synchronize templates — any templates in your WhatsApp Business account are imported. You can skip this and create them later from the Templates tab.
Enable insights — optional analytics for your templates and messages. You can choose Skip for now.
Enable inbound calls — optional; lets the number receive WhatsApp voice calls. This step does not appear on Coexistence channels (calls are not supported there). When you're done, click Finish.
Partner-managed channels show a slightly different sequence, including an Enable bulk messaging step that does not appear on channels connected directly with Meta.
Statuses you may see in the registration step
Two-step verification PIN required. "This number has its own two-step verification PIN. Enter it to finish registering. We never store it." Enter the 6-digit PIN you set in the WhatsApp Business app or in WhatsApp Manager. 2Chat staff will never ask you for this PIN.
Too many registration attempts. "Too many registration attempts for this number. WhatsApp allows 10 per 72 hours — please try again later." The wizard shows when you can retry ("You should be able to try again around {time} — often sooner") and a Try again button. You don't need to do anything: 2Chat also keeps retrying in the background and the step completes on its own.
Sending is capped until your business is verified. "Your number is connected and can send messages now. Until Meta verifies your business, new conversations you start are capped at 250 per 24 hours — replies to customers who write to you are unlimited." This is not an error — the channel works. To lift the cap, complete business verification in Meta Business Manager.
The number's link with Meta is out of date. "This number's link with Meta is out of date: the number no longer exists in your Meta account, or 2Chat lost access to it. Retrying won't fix it." Click Delete channel & reconnect: 2Chat deletes the channel and takes you straight to connecting the number again. You do not need to deregister anything first.
Once all steps are complete, your channel appears as Active and you can start sending and receiving WhatsApp Business messages from 2Chat.
