After you connect a number with Meta, the setup wizard opens on its own and finishes the job in three stages — Connect number, Activate and Done. It only asks you to act when WhatsApp needs something from you (a PIN, a code or a fix in your Meta account); everything else runs by itself.
If you closed it before it finished, the channel shows a Configuration required button in the Status column of the channel list. Click it, or open the channel and click Start configuration.
1. Connect number
2Chat registers your number on the WhatsApp Cloud API. It usually takes less than a minute and you don't need to do anything. Meanwhile, the wizard reminds you to add a card in Meta: Meta charges template messages to that card, and blocks numbers without one from starting conversations.
When the registration needs you, this stage shows what to do:
Two-step verification PIN. Enter the 6-digit PIN set in the WhatsApp Business app or in WhatsApp Manager. We never store it, and 2Chat staff will never ask you for it.
Steps pending in your Meta account — for example adding a card or setting the account's time zone. Each step has a How to do it guide and a link to the right place in Meta. Your number is already linked: you don't need to delete or reconnect it. When you're done, click I fixed it — check again.
Too many registration attempts. WhatsApp allows 10 per 72 hours. The wizard shows when you can try again, and 2Chat keeps retrying in the background — the step completes on its own.
A Meta message we don't recognize. The wizard shows Meta's answer as is, with its code. Click Write to support: the message to our team already includes the code.
The number's link with Meta is out of date — the number no longer exists in your Meta account, or 2Chat lost access to it. Click Re-link with Meta: your chats, templates and campaigns are kept.
Number not verified yet (numbers without the WhatsApp Business app). Enter the 6-digit code WhatsApp sends by SMS or call.
2. Activate
Once the number is registered, 2Chat turns on incoming messages and imports the templates you already have in your WhatsApp Business account. Both run on their own; you can close the window and they keep going in the background.
3. Done
Your number can now send and receive messages. Click Go to Live Chat to start, or set up the optional extras — now or later:
WhatsApp incoming calls — see How to enable WhatsApp calls. Not available on coexistence numbers.
Template metrics — reads and clicks per template; see Template metrics. Only for numbers connected directly with Meta without the WhatsApp Business app.
Import your chats — coexistence numbers can bring in the conversations they had in the WhatsApp Business app; see How to import your WhatsApp Business app chats.
If Meta hasn't verified your business yet, the wizard also shows Sending is capped until your business is verified. This is not an error: the number works, but new conversations you start are capped at 250 per 24 hours (replies to customers who write to you are unlimited). Complete business verification in Meta Business Manager to lift the cap.
Partner-managed channels
Numbers connected through a WhatsApp partner follow the same three stages, with a few differences: there is no PIN or verification code (the partner registers the number), and they don't support WhatsApp calls or template metrics. In Connect number, 2Chat confirms the number with the partner; if it can't send yet, the wizard shows what was reported, with Check again and Write to support. In Done, the optional extra is Bulk messaging, offered once it's ready for your number.
