How to keep your WhatsApp connection to 2Chat from disconnecting
Updated over 6 months ago

The 2Chat connection to your number is done via WhatsApp Web, that is, we create a WhatsApp Web session after you scan the QR code and keep it open for as long as possible unless an external or internal event influences it.

Some of the external events that can cause disconnections are:

  • Major WhatsApp updates in either the app or the WhatsApp Web version.

  • The WhatsApp app you have installed on your phone becomes outdated or deprecated and sends a signal to the network to disconnect all WhatsApp Web sessions, including the one we created.

  • You manually remove the connection we created from the list of Linked Devices in the WhatsApp application. We show up in the list a connection coming from a Mac on Google Chrome.

Apart from these events, there could also be internal factors like the following:

  • Your number is new and you rarely use the WhatsApp application and instead only use the WhatsApp Web connection we created through 2Chat.

  • You powered off your smartphone or kept it offline for more than 2 weeks.

  • You don't interact with the WhatsApp application at least once a week using the smartphone it's installed on.

As a general rule, we recommend the following actions to keep your WhatsApp connection alive for as long as possible:

  • Use the WhatsApp application regularly, more than once a week. Using it means opening the app to check chats and send some replies from time to time.

  • Keep the WhatsApp application always up to date.

  • Keep the phone online regularly.

How long should I expect a connection to last?

If you follow all the steps above, a connection could last several months. For example, the numbers we use for Customer Support at 2Chat have a connection lasting close to 6 months at the time of this writing, so you can expect to have the same or even longer stability.
