WhatsApp activation call requires you to enter a digit using the numerical pad on your phone before they can provide you with the actual activation code. This digit is randomized and when entered incorrectly, hangs up the call making the activation process fail.
Because of this, the call must be received following the instructions given by WhatsApp, and to do that you will need to receive the call somewhere.
This tutorial will help you configure your Twilio-hosted number to send calls to 2Chat's voice servers, a new feature we are currently working on (as of May 2024) that will enable your number to make and receive regular phone calls using 2Chat.
Steps to configure your Twilio number
Login to Twilio's console.
Select the Develop tab and go to Elastic Sip Trunking.
Click on Create new SIP Trunk, and name it 2Chat.
Go to Origination, and click on the plus sign to add a new entry
Add the URI
sip:dev-1.voip.dev.2chat.io:5060
as the Origination SIP URI, then click on Add.
Your SIP trunk is now ready to accept calls. Now you need to configure it on the number that will be used for WhatsApp.
Go to your list of Active numbers.
Among your list of numbers, select the one you want to use for WhatsApp.
Go to the voice configuration section, and select SIP Trunk and 2Chat.
Then, go to the bottom of the page and click on Save configuration.
Now you are ready to receive all calls, including WhatsApp's activation call, using 2Chat.
The final step is to get in touch with us to help you configure your 2Chat account. You can do so using our Support Chat, WhatsApp, or via email at [email protected].
